Black Star Inc. was founded by Simon Hepburn in June 2019 to meet an increasing demand of support from individuals and organisations.
Simon is a charity and education executive with over twenty years experience in a variety of national and international organisations.
Simon originally trained as a chef and worked in top class hotels and restaurants in London. One of the key lessons that he learnt from his catering days was the importance of team work, communication, resilience, timekeeping, creativity and leadership.
These traits have followed Simon through his change in career to the voluntary sector, starting with The Children's Society in the mid-nineties where he spearheaded an innovative school-based inclusion programme, the first of its kind in the UK.
Simon led this programme to be recognised as a model showcased in government guidance as best practice to reduce exclusions.
Fast forward twenty years and Simon has been a Director within several charities, multi academy trust and businesses, as well as a chief executive of a charity. In addition, Simon was founder of two charities and Trustee Board member of ACEVO (Association for Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations) and on the BBC Charities Advisory Board.
Simon established and chaired the Black and Asian Leaders Special Interest Group within ACEVO.
Black Star Inc. is made up of Simon Hepburn as Managing Director and a group of expert associates.
